TikTok age verification in Türkiye: when and how?
From 1 November 2026 TikTok must ask everyone opening a new account from Türkiye for an age token generated on e-Devlet, the state portal. Existing accounts are verified once by 31 March 2027. TikTok has not announced its screen yet; the steps will be here the day it does.
Last checked: 15 October 2026

What we know, what we do not
- Known
- The dates (1 November 2026 and 31 March 2027), that the rule covers every social network with more than a million daily accesses from Türkiye, TikTok included, and that the token only shows the 15 and 18 thresholds.
- Unknown
- What TikTok's screen looks like, where it opens, and when it will ask existing accounts. TikTok has not said.
- What will not happen
- TikTok asking you for an e-Devlet password, an ID photo or a date of birth. The token in the regulation carries none of them.
- When this page updates
- The day TikTok announces the flow. The last-checked date above changes that day.

Rules for ages 15 to 18 on TikTok
The regulation sets the same rules for every social network; TikTok must apply them too:
- The account is private by default and cannot be made public.
- Only accounts you follow can message you; no read receipts.
- The account is not suggested to others or matched with contacts.
- No live streaming.
- No infinite scroll or autoplay feed.
- No personalised ads or profiling.
- Parental controls: settings, spending, time.
Watch for scams
Changes like this bring fake messages. Do not tap links in SMS, email or DMs saying "your TikTok account will be closed, verify now". Verification starts inside the TikTok app and goes to turkiye.gov.tr; any other address is fake.
The whole mechanism: e-Devlet age verification. The rule itself: social media age limit in Türkiye.
What AkcaVPN does, and does not
It does not get around age verification: the token is tied to the account, not the connection. But a platform that does not comply faces throttling, and Instagram, X and TikTok have been throttled or blocked in Türkiye many times before. On that day AkcaVPN opens the app: your traffic leaves Türkiye through an encrypted tunnel and the operator cannot see what you open.
- Download AkcaVPN. It runs on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows.
- Pick a location outside Türkiye and connect. If it is slow, try a stealth location.
- Close the app and open it again.

Questions
Do I type my e-Devlet password into TikTok?
No. You only type it at turkiye.gov.tr, where you generate an age token; TikTok receives the token. If TikTok asks for an e-Devlet password or an ID photo on its own screen, that is not the method in the regulation.
Will my TikTok account be closed?
If you turn out to be under 15, yes. At 15 or over the account stays; between 15 and 18 it becomes private and some features are switched off. Existing accounts must be verified by 31 March 2027.
When do I have to do it?
For a new account, at sign-up from 1 November 2026. For an existing account, the platform will ask once by 31 March 2027.
What will the TikTok flow look like?
TikTok has not announced its verification screen for Türkiye. The day it does, the steps will be here with screenshots. Under the regulation the flow is: the platform asks, you generate the token on e-Devlet, the platform checks it.
I'm abroad. Does it apply to me?
The regulation covers everyone using the service from Türkiye. Platforms have not said how they will tell who is in Türkiye. Visitors to Türkiye can use an exceptional token generated from passport details.
Is using a VPN legal in Türkiye?
No law in Türkiye makes using a VPN a crime. BTK has blocked some VPN services since 2023; AkcaVPN is not on that list. Details: Is a VPN legal in Türkiye? This page is not legal advice.
How do I open a platform that gets throttled or blocked?
With AkcaVPN. Open the app, pick a location outside Türkiye, connect, then close the platform and open it again. Your traffic leaves Türkiye through an encrypted tunnel, so the operator cannot apply the block or the throttling. Download AkcaVPN, 777 MB a day for free.
Install it before the next block.
When a block comes, VPN websites get harder to reach too: BTK has blocked the sites and servers of many VPN services since 2023. Install AkcaVPN while everything works and connect once.
