Is X (Twitter) down in Türkiye?
If X will not load, it is usually one of three things: your connection, X itself, or a block or throttling in Türkiye. You can tell which in a few minutes.
Status: OpenLast checked: All apps
This is how an app hangs during a block or a slowdown. Turn AkcaVPN on and see what changes.

Take a look at our guides!
Is it you, X, or a block?
- Fails on Wi-Fi but works on mobile data?
- The problem is that network or that provider. Restarting the modem or switching networks may be enough.
- Downdetector shows complaints only from Türkiye?
- Most likely a block or throttling. When X is down worldwide, complaints come from every country. NetBlocks also reports blocks in Türkiye on its site and on X.
- Text loads, photos and videos do not?
- That is what throttling looks like. X does not close, it crawls and the feed never refreshes.
- What does the status at the top of this page say?
- What we found on our last check, and when.

How to open X in Türkiye with AkcaVPN
A VPN carries your connection through an encrypted tunnel to a server outside Türkiye. Your provider sees that you connect to a server, not that you open X.
- Download AkcaVPN. It runs on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows.
- Pick a location outside Türkiye and connect. If it is slow, try a stealth location; its traffic looks like ordinary web traffic.
- Close X and open it again.
Changing DNS to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 does not beat throttling: it is applied to X's traffic, not to DNS.
Once connected, run the DNS leak test. Everyone gets 777 MB a day for free, with no email and no card.
Questions
How do I open X in Türkiye?
Turn AkcaVPN on, pick a location outside Türkiye, close X and open it again. Your traffic leaves Türkiye through an encrypted tunnel, so the operator cannot apply the block or the throttling. Download AkcaVPN, 777 MB a day for free.
When will X work again?
Only whoever ordered the restriction, or X, can say. Past outages lasted from hours to days: The February 2023 throttling lasted about 12 hours, the March 2025 one 42 hours. The current state is in the line at the top of this page and on the Türkiye status page.
Does it fail on mobile data too?
Blocks and throttling are applied by the operator, so Turkcell, Vodafone and Türk Telekom mobile data give the same result. If it works on Wi-Fi and not on mobile, that operator is the problem. With the VPN on, X works on both.
Is changing DNS enough?
If the block is only in DNS, yes: 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 opens it. For throttling, no, because the operator slows X's traffic itself. If the connection is cut as it starts, no either; we explain that on the Discord page.
Is it safe to use a VPN?
A VPN encrypts your traffic, but your traffic passes through the VPN company's servers, so who you trust matters. Pick one that keeps no logs and needs no account, and stay away from "free premium" APKs.
Is using a VPN legal in Türkiye?
No law in Türkiye makes using a VPN a crime. BTK has blocked some VPN services since 2023; AkcaVPN is not on that list. Details: Is a VPN legal in Türkiye? This page is not legal advice.
